How Italians do ice cream.

When you scoop up a spoonful of Belkin Family Lookout Farm Gelato, you’re in for a real treat! Whether it’s a fruity sorbet or one of our other smooth and creamy flavors, you’re sure to become an instant fan.

What’s gelato? It’s an Italian frozen dessert made from milk and sugar, plus other flavorings. Unlike some high–end ice creams, gelato typically has less than 35% air. The result? A dense, super–flavorful product you’ll find hard to put down. “Gelato” has become a generic word for “ice cream,” though true gelato has no cream at all. “Gelato” is literally an Italian word for “frozen” and comes from the Italian word gelare, which means “to freeze”.

We first introduced authentic gelato to Belkin Family Lookout Farm in 1994. It has since become a favorite treat for our visitors — and for those of us who work on the farm! As Americans become more health–conscious, gelato is growing in popularity. Gelato is more nutritious and lighter than regular ice cream, sorbets, sherbet, and frozen yogurts. It contains no egg yolks — only small amounts of low–fat milk, and much less sugar.

Made with imported ingredients from Italy, our delicious gelato makes Belkin Family Lookout Farm a real cool spot. Some folks literally come out just for the gelato! So buy it by the cup, or even the pint or the quart. Take it home to enjoy, to work, or to a party... enjoy it any way you wish! One things for sure: whoever tries it will come back for more.
