U–Pick: fresh fruit & fun
Enjoy a New England tradition in a whole new way.
Here at Belkin Family Lookout Farm there’s more than just fruit picking in store. There’s healthy, outdoor, family fun activity for everyone! Whether you’re joining us for our Summer Strawberry and Cherry U–Pick Season (late June to midJuly) or for our Fall U–Pick Season (beginning August 9th with peaches, nectarines and plums!) you’re sure to have a fun-filled day here on the farm!
First, you’ll ride our trains through beautiful arbors canopied with grapes and surrounded by a variety of fruit. As you pass through this tunnel of tasty fruit, you’ll be dropped off to go pick — or to go play. Whether you’re watching your little ones romp around in the children’s play area, climbing the hay pyramid, running through the burlap maze, or learning about the life of buzz in the bee observatory, you’re sure to have a blast. Before the day is done, make sure to stop by the Farm Market for our famous homemade Italian gelato and some of the freshest produce in New England.
Families and couples who’ve visited our farm come back time and time again. So when you’re making plans for the day or weekend, choose something different than the movies or the mall. Once you take the deep breath of our fresh orchard air, you’ll be hooked — and you’re sure to have a great time all day long.
What Will YOU U–Pick?
- Strawberries Bright red in color, pick the smaller berries if you want the sweetest and tastiest.
- Peaches The only difference between peaches and nectarines is the lack of fuzz on the nectarine skin. Nectarines tend to be smaller and more aromatic than peaches and have more red color on the fruit surface.

- Plums Plums are a small to medium-sized round or oval fruit having a smooth skin and a single pit. They are dark in color resembling purple.
- Asian Pears These delicacies have a flavor that hints of pear, apple, and melon. Try them and you’ll be hooked!
- Ginger Gold Apples Skin color is green until it approaches ripeness, then it turns yellow; taste is sweet, with a surprising amount of sugar; texture is crisp, firm, and juicy with yellowish–white flesh.
- Gala Apples With a crunchy, juicy, sweet–tart taste these apples are a creamy yellow with red and orange stripes of color.
- Honey Crisp Apples Skin is mostly red with a yellow background, while the surface has shallow dimples and dots; flavor ranges from mild to strongly aromatic, depending on degree of maturity; flesh is cream–colored and coarse.
- Red Delicious Apples This deep red, crispy–skinned apple has an unusual bell shape and a sweet, sweet taste.
- Macoun Apples Skin is a dark red with a purplish flush; sweet taste with a hint of berry; flesh is juicy, snow white.
- Macintosh Apples Skin is dark red, with almost a touch of purple; taste is bold, sweet–sour, and somewhat acidic; texture is soft, with very aromatic flesh.
- Golden Delicious Apples As suggested by its name, color is predominantly yellow, skin is smooth; taste is honeyed and sweet; flesh is a yellowish color.
- Jonagold Apples Skin has a yellow background with pinkish–red blush or stripes; rich, honeyed, almost aromatic flavor; crisp, juicy, yellow/cream–colored flesh.
- Fuji Apples One of the most unpredictable varieties in terms of color; most are yellow to pink in background color with different amounts of red striping; crisp, firm skin; juicy with a bit of a honeyed flavor, high in sugar when ripe and low in acidity.
- Cortland Apples Predominantly red flushed/striped over a yellow–green background; smooth skinned; sweet–tart taste with a softer texture.
- Shizuka Apples Firm and juicy and slightly tart this is a medium-sized yellow apple with a pink-orange blush.
- Pumpkins (Fall only) A pumpkin is a gourd, most commonly orange in color when ripe, that grows from a trailing vine. Pumpkins are a popular food, commonly eaten when cooked. Otherwise they are most often used as Jack–o–lanterns.
** We also have Rainier Cherries available for U-Pick in Early July. They are sweet in taste with a creamy-yellow flesh.

- “The Caterpillar” ride The kids can wiggle and wobble all around the play area on this happy little train.
- Burlap Maze Dare you try and find your way to the other side of this new maze? Give it a try!
- Bee observatory Enjoy learning about bees and how they help pollinate our crops.
- Train Rides Take a train ride through our orchards on these unique, environmentally friendly rubber-tire trains — imported directly from a company in Italy!
- Hay Pyramid Climb up, down, and around this pyramid of hay. Race you to the top!
- Pony Rides Treat your child to a pony ride! This special treat is perfect for children ages 3-10 years old.
